Plum Oazo 8 Bindings
Description
The Plum Oazo 8 is a lightweight ski touring binding, ideal for backcountry enthusiasts who prioritize minimal weight without compromising on durability and performance. At just 200g per binding, the Oazo 8 is designed for advanced skiers looking for a versatile, efficient setup for long tours or steep, technical terrain.
Key Features:
- Release Value (RV): Lateral release is adjustable between DIN 4-10, but the forward release is fixed at DIN 8, making it well-suited for aggressive skiers comfortable with a preset release.
- Heel Risers: It offers three riser heights (0mm, 40mm, and 54mm), which is perfect for varying terrain. However, switching between positions requires twisting the heel manually.
- Construction: The Oazo 8 is machined from a single piece of 7075 aluminum, providing strength and precision while keeping weight to a minimum. This makes it ideal for skiers tackling big, fast, and long missions in the mountains.
- Heel Adjustment: There’s a 20mm adjustment range, allowing compatibility with multiple boot sizes (up to three boot sizes).
Who It's For: The Oazo 8 is best suited for lightweight touring skis and skiers who prioritize efficiency on big ascents and long tours. While its fixed forward release may be a limiting factor for some, it excels in weight savings and simplicity, making it a top choice for advanced ski mountaineers looking for a balance between race and traditional tech bindings
Tests and Reviews
What Confessions of a Ski Bum thinks:
"I would describe the Oazo as “solid, light & dependable” – for me this is the ultimate combination for backcountry gear and Plum nailed it in this design. Bindings tend to be less personal than something like a boot or ski and the Oazo will end up being a great choice for most backcountry skiers. If you set your DIN somewhere around 8 and want a light weight binding that can you can depend on, the Oazo is a sure winner." Read the full review here
