May 24th to June 1st 2025
Slhanay is a gritty, under-the-radar gem for those who prefer their trails steep, their views earned, and their solitude uninterrupted. The climb is raw—roots, boulders, and the kind of forest that feels alive. With sweeping views of Howe Sound, the Chief’s imposing face, and the sprawl of Squamish below, it’s a local favorite for a reason: wild, rugged, and just off the radar enough to feel like your own secret summit.
Getting There
There are lots of places to park along the Mamquam FSR that will get you relatively close to the start of the segment while still giving you time for a proper warm-up. Ideally you'll want to park somewhere past the KM 3 marker or around the Powerhouse Springs Road junction.
Alternatively you can park in the Cherry Drive neighbourhood and simply cross over to the Mamquam FSR at the end of the street.
Running the Stawamus River Trail/Fisherman's Trail as mapped below is a great way of avoiding the FSR traffic to make it to the start of the challenge.
The Route
Start your watch as soon as you finish crossing the concrete bridge over the Stawamus River.
Forget tidy trails and predictable switchbacks—Jungle Boogie and Rogue on Slhanay deliver Squamish at its messy best with their steep climbs, weaving through dense, root-tangled forests that demand your full attention. Just when you think you've found a rhythm, granite takes over with scrambly rock moves, uneven footing, and a vibe that keeps you guessing at every bend.
Stop your watch when you reach the North summit plateau of Slhanay.
