June 7th to June 15th 2025
Siy̓ám̓ Smánit. Stawamus Chief. Sacred, iconic, and relentless.
For the final round, we’re skipping the crowds and heading straight into the heart of the Chief’s lesser-known side. The backdoor route to Third Peak is a raw line—part roots, part slab, part hands-on scramble. It’s quieter here, steeper too, and rough around the edges in all the right ways.
Third Peak doesn’t need a podium to feel like a prize. With big-sky views and granite underfoot, it’s a reminder of just how wild and unreal this corridor is. Whether you’re chasing the crown or just grinding it out to the end, this trail delivers the kind of payoff that sticks with you. Sea-to-Sky at its finest.
Getting There
Park at the Apron lot. From the entrance of the Apron lot, run along the Mamquam FSR for 1.4 km. You will then reach the start of the "normal" Slhanay trail.
The Route
There upper section of the Third Peak ascent features a "climbers" shortcut with two steep chimneys. For the safety of others (rockfall hazard, fall hazard, etc) and to ensure a fair challenge for all, you are required to stick to the easier established trail. NOT SHORTCUT ALLOWED.
