Wind Ridge

Another of these local favourites that don't require much driving at all. Wind Ridge is pretty high up on the "views/effort" scale. A few flat and rolling kilometres lead to a sustained climb up to an exposed ridge (Wind Ridge) that provides some amazing views of the Lougheed-Allan-Pigeon mountain area. Wind Ridge is a great Summer evening run if you feel like getting high up on something new!

Wear a pair of grippy shoes for that one, the way up and down the ridge (km 4 to 8) can be dusty and slippery.

  • Distance: 13 km to 15 km roundtrip depending on how far you go once on at ridge top.
  • Elevation Gain: 780 meters
  • Difficulty:  Intermediate
  • Where to park: Lougheed View Point
  • Surface: Semi-technical,  one step of 4th class scrambling (10 meter high) through a short cliff band to access the ridge.
