Leki Ultratrail FX One Poles
These are poles for runners who actually use poles, not ones who politely carry them “just in case.” The Ultratrail FX One is built around a fixed-length, carbon construction that’s light, snappy, and confidence-inspiring when the terrain turns steep and the clock matters. They swing clean, plant precisely, and don’t feel like extra baggage when fatigue sets in.
The standout here is the Trail Shark grip and strap system. It’s designed to transfer power efficiently through the wrist and forearm rather than relying on a death grip, which pays off on long climbs and late-race pushes. Once you’re used to the click-in feel, it’s fast, secure, and noticeably reduces hand fatigue compared to traditional straps. The grip itself balances comfort and control, even when things get sweaty.
These poles fold down small enough to disappear into a running vest or pack, then deploy quickly when the trail points up. Carbon shafts keep weight low without feeling flimsy, and the overall ride is firm and precise rather than soft or noodly. They’re tuned for running first, not hiking crossover duty.
Character & use: fast, focused, no-nonsense. This is a performance tool for trail runners, mountain racers, and ultrarunners who spend real time climbing and descending. Ideal for races with sustained vert, technical alpine routes, or long days where efficiency matters. Less ideal if you want adjustable lengths, casual hiking versatility, or poles you can loan to friends.
Who it’s for: experienced trail and ultra runners who know they want poles, know their length, and want something light, compact, and purpose-built. If poles are part of your strategy, these belong on your start line.
These are carbon poles. While they are extremely durable for carbon shafts, they are still made out of carbon. As a result, direct impacts and falls might cause damage. Use your poles responsibly.
