Ski Technician (Canmore, AB)

Whether you're mounting a race binding, trimming climbing skins, or performing a full ski tune, you enjoy meticulous work and appreciate that the smallest details can make the biggest difference.

As a Ski Technician, you'll be responsible for preparing, mounting, and servicing ski equipment to the highest standards. You'll combine technical expertise with careful attention to detail, ensuring every piece of equipment is accurate, safe, and ready for adventure. You'll also work closely with customers and the retail team to help deliver an exceptional experience from workshop to trailhead.

Perform precise ski binding installations using manufacturer specifications, mounting jigs, and appropriate torque and testing procedures.

Mount alpine touring, alpine, and race bindings while ensuring compatibility, accuracy, and customer safety.

Trim climbing skins to match individual skis with exceptional precision and attention to detail.

Perform ski tuning services including base repair, edge sharpening, waxing, base structuring, and seasonal maintenance.

Inspect skis, bindings, boots, and related equipment for wear, compatibility, and safety concerns before completing work.

Verify binding function, release values, and mounting accuracy according to manufacturer standards.

Maintain detailed service records and ensure all workshop documentation is completed accurately.

Communicate clearly with customers regarding recommended repairs, equipment compatibility, and expected turnaround times.

Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient workshop while ensuring tools, machines, and equipment are properly maintained.

Assist with receiving, assembling, and preparing new equipment for retail display and customer orders.

Support customers with technical questions related to skis, bindings, climbing skins, and ski touring equipment.

Contribute to a positive, high-performing team environment built around quality workmanship and exceptional customer experiences.

Follow company policies and procedures while helping protect company assets.

Perform other duties as required.

• Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with exceptional attention to detail.
• Reliable, organized, and committed to producing consistently accurate work.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays during the winter season.
• Willingness to learn manufacturer specifications, workshop procedures, and industry best practices.

• Previous experience as a ski technician or in a technical workshop environment.
• Experience mounting alpine, alpine touring, and race ski bindings.
• Experience trimming climbing skins and performing ski tuning services.
• Familiarity with Wintersteiger or other ski service equipment.
• Strong understanding of ski touring equipment, binding systems, and boot compatibility.
• Passion for skiing and ski touring with a commitment to precision and craftsmanship.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced specialty retail environment without compromising quality.
