General Manager

As General Manager at SkiUphill RunUphill, you bring deep industry knowledge to lead, coach, and develop a highly skilled team delivering exceptional customer experiences through expert service, technical expertise, and an authentic connection to mountain sports.
You are hands-on and present on the floor, actively engaging with customers alongside your team while driving performance goals and business priorities. With a strong background in specialty retail, you understand the day-to-day realities of a high-performing ski and run shop.
Key Responsibilities
Support and grow a strong, diverse team through coaching, mentorship, and shared learning
Be involved in hiring, onboarding, training, and helping keep our team and ensure that they thrive
Show up on the floor—work alongside the team and connect with customers
Help lead and support technical services like boot fitting, ski tech work, shoe fitting
Have knowledge and experience planning and overseeing events
Step in to support both customers and team members when challenges come up
Keep the shop running smoothly and support day-to-day operations
Take care of the space, equipment, and everything that keeps the business going
Contribute to a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive workplace for everyone
Pitch in wherever needed—this is a team effort
Minimum Qualifications
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Experience leading others in ski, outdoor, or specialty retail
- Hands-on knowledge of ski shop operations
Preferred Qualifications
Solid hands-on knowledge of ski touring, mountaineering gear, and how to get people into the right footwear
Experience with boot fitting and working on skis in a shop setting
Comfortable taking the lead, staying calm under pressure, and helping the team hit shared goals
Clear communicator who can make thoughtful, confident decisions
Enjoys supporting others—sharing knowledge, coaching, and helping teammates grow
