United Shapes Deep Reach 2027 Splitboard

United Shapes built the Deep Reach around a specific kind of backcountry day: not a heroic deep-powder mission, but the real days. The 6 to 30 inch range. Variable snow. Skin tracks that reward efficiency and descents that reward something between commitment and playfulness. The Deep Reach Split takes that platform into the backcountry and makes it a splitboard without sacrificing what made the solid version work.

For 2027, production has moved to Austria, bringing the Deep Reach Split into the same manufacturing ecosystem as some of the most technically precise boards in the industry. The tooling change means tighter construction tolerances across the laminate stack, edge press, and base finish. The board you're riding is built more precisely than the previous version, and on a sintered P-Tex 3000 base that waxes up and holds speed across a full day of variable snow.

The construction underneath that is worth understanding. The Free Core 2.0 is a blend of FSC-certified poplar, paulownia, and beech, three different densities working together to tune the flex pattern rather than just hit a target stiffness number. A Carbon V nose reinforces the tip for sustained float without adding swing weight. Full-length tip-to-tail carbon stringers add pop and energy. Triaxial fiberglass runs both top and bottom, with four woven carbon stringers on the base-side laminate for a stiffer, more responsive ride underfoot. Super Sap bio-based epoxy throughout. The profile is camber-lifted: positive camber between the feet for edge hold and energy on hard snow, early-rise tip for float and easier turn initiation in deeper conditions.

The shape is directional and tapered, with 20mm of taper built in and a wide platform underfoot. At a 6.5/10 flex it's medium across the whole board, which is the right call for a splitboard that needs to handle a full range of conditions. Blister's extended field testing at Alyeska noted the Deep Reach's fish tail shape as particularly well-suited for shallow to mid-depth powder, more balanced and supportive than longer swallow tail designs when the hard subsurface can be felt, while still handling the 30-inch days without drama. Footwear may be tried indoors only (home or treadmill). All returned items must be unworn beyond fit testing, include original manufacturer packaging and hang tags (fees may apply if damaged) and have been purchased from SkiUphill-RunUphill within the 15-day window. Apparel must be completely unworn.
