Tantrums Crest 6 Running Vest

Tantrums is a Pasadena-based brand that launched in 2024 with essentially one product and made it count. The Crest 6 has since crossed major finish lines at Western States, UTMB, Hardrock, Cocodona 250, and the Mammoth 200 in the space of two seasons, which is a faster race resume than most vest brands accumulate in a decade. For the current version, Tantrums updated the construction with a Cordura-infused textile, a revised sternum fit system, and a new backbone chassis that blends monofilaments with spacer mesh for improved stability without adding weight or heat retention.

At 153g it's one of the lightest vests out there, and the sleeker back profile compared to Salomon or Arc'teryx equivalents is immediately noticeable on the run. The backbone construction is what keeps a 153g vest from bouncing: monofilaments and spacer mesh work together to lock the vest to the torso at pace without the rigidity of a traditional frame. Believe in the Run called it the best vest they'd tested after extended wear across multiple configurations, and the Cordura-infused shell is a meaningful step up in abrasion and tear resistance from the first version.

Fluid capacity runs slightly larger than the category standard. The front flask sleeves fit 2x 600ml HydraPak flasks (included) rather than the 500ml standard. The rear has a narrow vertical sleeve that takes up to a 1.5L reservoir if needed. Front pockets include large stretch mesh pouches in front of the flask sleeves, a zippered pocket on the right, and a mesh envelope pocket on the left. Rear storage adds a cylindrical pass-through lumbar compartment. The sternum system uses three clasps on a daisy chain that adjust vertically, easy to open and close on the move while staying secure once set. Fabric loops on the top left shoulder and bottom right flank are compatible with a Salomon pole quiver.
