Most midlayers are either too warm on the way up or not warm enough at the top. Raide’s answer is to insulate only where it counts. A single Polartec Alpha 60 panel across the chest holds core warmth, and the rest of the hoodie stays uninsulated, so it breathes under a pack or a shell. It’s the layer you start the tour in and finish it in.
The body is a light 40d recycled nylon (48gsm) with a PFAS-free DWR, thin enough to layer under a shell without bulk. The sleeves switch to a heavier 40d x 70d blend with 12% spandex (127gsm), so you get stretch through the shoulders and arms for kick turns, pole plants, and reaching overhead. The shoulders and hood are weather resistant, which helps when snow starts falling before you’ve stopped to add a shell.
The touring details are all there: an elastic beacon sleeve with a clip, a two-way locking zip, a chest vent zip, an integrated stow pocket, thumb loops, and a hem cinch. The hood is cut to fit over a hat. Fit sits between freeride and technical, relaxed enough to layer over a base layer without feeling baggy.
At 236g in a medium it packs down to almost nothing.
