Pomoca builds skins for more skimo racers and elite mountain athletes than any other manufacturer. The Tour Pro Expedition is their answer to a specific problem: most skins make you choose between grip and glide. The Expedition tries not to make you choose.
The defining feature is Edge Grip, a dual-composition velvet construction where the outer edges of the skin use a grippier plush and the center strip runs a faster, lower-friction mohair-equivalent material treated with Pomoca's Glide Pro finish. The logic is straightforward: grip matters most at the edges when you're side-hilling or fighting for purchase on a steep pitch, while glide matters most through the center where the ski loads and unloads over flat terrain. In Skialper's technical testing, the glide values matched Pomoca's Race Explore mohair skin and the grip values matched their nylon Free Explore, essentially combining the best of both in one skin. In field use, the tradeoff is that the skin runs grippier than average out of the box and benefits from a few touring days before the glide fully opens up.
The backing is Safer Skin Light (SSL), Pomoca's thinner and lighter waterproof membrane, 12% lighter than the original Safer Skin and still fully waterproof. Glide treatment is Ever Dry 3.0, Pomoca's PFC-free topcoat that replaced their earlier perfluorocarbon-based treatment entirely. The tip and tail hardware uses their Ready2Climb system, trimmable to length in two minutes without tools.
For Pomoca, when in doubt size up. These are our recommendations as Pomoca sizes short:
