The Splitboard Free Explore is the durability-first option in Pomoca's splitboard skin lineup. Where the Splitboard Explore runs a 70/30 mohair-nylon blend optimized for glide, the Free Explore goes full 100% nylon. The tradeoff is deliberate: nylon is meaningfully more abrasion-resistant than mohair, handles wet and variable snow without degrading as quickly, and holds up across a high volume of days and rough terrain without the plush wearing out prematurely.
The practical difference shows up over a season of hard use rather than on day one. If you're a splitboarder who puts in serious mileage, tours in wet coastal snow, or tends to be hard on gear, the Free Explore will outlast a mohair or mohair-blend skin by a significant margin. The grip is reliable across variable conditions, particularly in the wet, heavy snow where mohair can feel squirrely. The glide is adequate rather than exceptional, which is the honest tradeoff for the durability gain, and consistent with how all nylon skins perform relative to mohair blends.
Backing is Safer Skin Light (SSL), 12% lighter than Pomoca's original membrane while staying fully waterproof. Glue is Hotmelt, cold-weather optimized for frequent handling with gloves and reliable adhesion in freezing temperatures. Tip attachment uses the Ready2Climb Splitboard system: a 10-degree angled Click Lock with an off-center buckle, trimmable to width in two minutes with the Pomoca Cutter. Tail attachment is an elastic strap fitting most standard splitboard tails. Glide treatment is Ever Dry 3.0, PFC-free throughout.
Worth knowing: 100% nylon skins need a break-in period before glide fully opens up, and they don't match a mohair skin on a cold, dry groomed skin track. This is the skin for skiers who prioritize longevity and wet-snow performance over outright efficiency.

Returns and Exchanges
We accept returns on eligible items within 15 days of delivery, provided the product is in like-new condition.
Footwear may be tried indoors only (home or treadmill). All returned items must be unworn beyond fit testing, include original manufacturer packaging and hang tags (fees may apply if damaged) and have been purchased from SkiUphill-RunUphill within the 15-day window. Apparel must be completely unworn.
Final Sale / Non-Returnable Items
All sale items are final sale. The following items are not eligible for return: carbon-plated running shoes, avalanche safety equipment (transceivers, shovels, probes, airbags), climbing equipment (ropes, harnesses, carabiners, belay devices, slings), ski crampons, helmets and gift cards.
