Most down hoodies are built around a trade-off: warmth in a light package, but the shell fabric is fragile enough that you're treating the jacket carefully around rock, ice, crampons, and pack straps. The Durable Down Hoody takes a different approach. The shell is Ultra-PE ripstop, a high-tensile 98% recycled nylon/2% recycled polyester fabric borrowed from Patagonia's Workwear Steel Forge line, built to handle abrasion without a second thought. The insulation behind it is 700-fill-power 100% Recycled Down, so the warmth-to-weight ratio is where it needs to be for a jacket that also needs to survive real use.

The underarms and cuffs swap down for 80g Thermogreen synthetic insulation, which handles moisture better in the zones that sweat and flex most. Discontinuous quilting keeps the down in place and prioritizes overhead reach, which matters on a technical approach or a multi-pitch climb where shoulder mobility gets compromised first. The hood has elasticized binding and a single-pull adjust. Two-way center-front zipper with chin garage, two generous zippered handwarmer pockets, elasticized cuffs, drawcord hem. At 652g it's not a packable down hoody in the ultralight sense.
