The thicker PU-coated fabric handles rougher use than the ultralight version without tearing or degrading as quickly.

The distinction from the Ultralight is straightforward: more durable material, more weight, better suited for deliberate overnight use or high-use rescue kit. If it's only ever going to be emergency insurance at the bottom of your day pack, the Ultralight is the more practical carry. If you're doing multi-day tours or keeping it in a group rescue kit that gets used regularly, the Single holds up better.
