The 42S is the Peak 45 on a shortened back system: same Swisswool 3D construction, same metal strut frame, same full-contact wool-lined back panel, shoulder straps, and hip belt, sized for smaller torsos. Three litres less volume, 50g lighter, otherwise identical in intent and capability.
At 42L it still covers everything a serious multi-day alpine or ski mountaineering objective demands. Top and perimeter side zipper access, dedicated safety compartment, side crampon compartment with drainage holes, rope attachment and exit, ice axe and pole holders, diagonal and A-frame ski carry, snowboard and snowshoe attachment, helmet net, hip belt pocket, map and guidebook pockets, hidden internal pocket.
