Ortovox Beast 2.3 Shovel
Ortovox Beast 2.3 Avalanche Shovel
Light enough to forget about until you need it, and strong enough to count on when you do. The Ortovox Beast 2.3 is a do-it-all avalanche shovel that packs down small and digs hard, whether it’s your first season touring or your fiftieth.
At just 580 grams, the Beast keeps your pack light without cutting corners on strength. Its 83 cm working length and 2.3 L scoop hit the sweet spot for moving snow quickly and efficiently in a rescue, when every second counts. High sidewalls and a pronounced centre ridge give the blade the rigidity it needs, and a sharp, durable cutting edge bites into dense avalanche debris.
The pack-friendly blade and fast-locking telescopic shaft collapse quickly and slide easily into any Ortovox touring pack (or your pack of choice). Non-slip step grooves let you drive the blade in with your boot, and the T-grip switches between left- and right-handed use. No gimmicks, just the features that matter when it’s go time.
