The Alugator Light is Mammut's  lightest avalanche shovel. It weighs less than a small cola and can fit into any small daypack. The sharpened, tiltproof blade is made of ultra-robust anodized aluminum, while the attachment holes mean it is easier and faster to construct a snow anchor or rescue sled. The telescopic shaft has an oval profile. This makes the Alugator even more robust.

  • New UIAA standard for avalanche shovels: Effective rescue thanks to a blade size of at least 500 cm2, reliable use in compacted snow, ergonomic handling thanks to a shovel length of at least 75 cm. These properties qualify our shovels for the new UIAA avalanche shovel standard, allowing customers to identify immediately which avalanche shovels meet practical requirements.
  • More robust than ever: Anodized aluminum and a tilt-resistant, sharpened blade make the Alugator Light a robust avalanche shovel. The attachment holes allow easier and faster construction of a snow anchor and rescue sled, while the handy telescopic shaft features an oval profile. This makes the Alugator more robust than ever.

Tests and Reviews

What Confessions of a Ski Bum says: "When it comes down to it there isn’t much to say about shovels, they either work or break down with real world use. What can be said about the Mannut Alugator Light is that it preforms extremely well for how light it is thanks to the design and materials. I’m nearing the amount of days when I will retire my current Alugator (it still functions as good as the first day but I keep a regular replacement schedule regardless of wear for safety gear) and I will for sure be getting another to replace it."
