The Ultra Short is Chance's most popular product, and the one that sits furthest outside conventional running short thinking. Where the Marathon Short and Sprint Short are built around a liner-and-shell system, the Ultra Short is a compressive half-tight with a woven shell panel and a BounceLess storage belt integrated into the high-rise waistband. It's the short that makes sense when you're looking at mandatory kit lists and wondering how to not hate your storage solution for 12 hours.
The half-tight is 78% recycled nylon / 22% recycled elastane, lighter than the v.2 version while staying soft against the skin. Fully inverted seams in the crotch and laser-cut hems eliminate the friction points that accumulate on long efforts. The outer shell panels (front and rear) are the same Payen woven 4-way stretch fabric as the Marathon and Sprint shorts: UPF50, fast-drying, abrasion-resistant. The BounceLess waistband storage system has been refined for v.3 with five compartments, 4" deep, in 360° mesh, with pull tabs for access while moving. Two additional cargo pockets sit lower for easy reach. It carries flasks, gels, a layer, a phone, and mandatory kit without shifting or bouncing, which is the one thing a vest or belt can rarely claim across a full race distance.
Worth knowing: the BounceLess belt is high-waisted by design. That's structural, not stylistic. It's what keeps the load stable.
