Description

The 2026 Helio Carbon 108 is Black Diamond’s statement ski for riders who measure everything in powder, steep lines, and big mountain swagger. If your heart races at untouched slopes, pillows, and the kind of terrain where most skis cavort at best—you want something that floats hard, charges firm, and still lets you skin with purpose—this is it.

The new version has been reworked from tip to tail: it uses a robust poplar wood core paired with a pre-preg carbon fiber + E-Glass (or carbon + composite) layup, and full-perimeter 5 mm beveled ABS sidewalls that stiffen up the ski’s edges without deadening the feel. The early-rise rocker in both tip and tail improves float in deep snow and helps trail breaking, while the traditional camber underfoot gives you grip when the snow firms. The ABS tail protector with built-in skin-clip notch adds durability and makes transitions mean less stress. Compared to the older model, you’ll notice better dampness, less chatter in choppy snow, more forgiveness in blown-out conditions, and more consistent stability at speed.

On snow, this ski delivers a big, playful, yet powerful ride. It surfs beautifully in soft snow, letting you slash lines and let the tips run. On firm snow or steeper faces it digs in, holds edge, and doesn’t flap or wander when you push it. Yes, it’s heavier than narrower Helio models, and it feels that on the climb—but the payoff comes when you drop in: control, confidence, float, all of it in one package.

If you’re an advanced to expert freeride/touring skiier who splits time between skintracks and seeking bottomless days, this ski will feel like a weapon. If you live in a zone dominated by deep snow, variable conditions, and you want one ski that doesn’t force compromise, the Helio Carbon 108 is your pick. If instead your world is firm snow, tight trees, or you simply want max uphill efficiency, you might lean narrower or lighter—but if you want float, power, and a ride that begs you to send, this one earns its keep.
