The Atomic Backland Race pack is specially designed by Davide Magnini to tackle the toughest ski races. The pack is extremely stable, with an almost obsessive focus on maintaining a snug fit, even when packed with race gear and skis. Constructed like a race vest, the Backland UL Race is equipped to comfortably hold all your mandatory race-day equipment and is hydration system compatible. The Secure Speed diagonal ski carrier uses a specially designed hook so you can attach and retrieve your skis without removing the pack. The Backland Race pack comes with a tow rope and a zippered pocket for your ID and race-required documents. Its ergonomic design incorporates an ice axe compartment and an easily accessible compartment for your avalanche safety equipment. The dedicated crampon and skin compartment is easily accessible without removing the pack, saving time and effort during transitions. The Backland Race bag is everything you need in a lightweight, stable pack for fast climbs and intense efforts.
Who it’s for: skimo racers, vertical junkies, and anyone who wants a stripped-down pack that’s laser-focused on efficiency. This isn’t your cushy day-tour pack—it’s tuned for sprint starts, chaotic transitions, and big efforts.
How it feels: slick, fast, and organized. It’s tougher than the feathery ultralight packs out there, though not quite as minimal.
What you need to know:
Weight: ~400g
Volume: 16L
Sizing: one size
Bottom line: If your calendar is full of “sprint, vertical, individual,” this is the pack you want on your back.
