The Atomic Backland Expert is built for skiers who want a boot that climbs like a featherweight but still holds its own when gravity takes over. It hits a sweet spot—lighter than most alpine touring boots, but with enough stiffness to keep you charging on the descent. The narrow 98 mm last hugs low-volume feet, while the 74° cuff rotation and frictionless pivots make the uphill feel effortless. The Free/Lock 4.0 lever switches between walk and ski modes with zero fuss, and adjustable forward lean lets you fine-tune your stance at 13°, 15°, or 17°. A fiberglass-loaded PU shell with Memory Fit customization and a breathable, machine-washable 3D Gold Tour liner round out a boot that’s as comfortable as it is capable.
Praised for its smooth, efficient touring and a ride that feels more stable and confidence-inspiring than most lightweight AT boots, the Backland Expert is a killer choice for backcountry skiers who want uphill efficiency without giving up downhill punch. And it doubles as an excellent hardboot option for splitboarders looking for precision, responsiveness, and reduced weight on big days.
Light enough for long skin tracks, stout enough for steep chutes—this is the boot for mountain days that demand both.
