Description

The Amplid Milligram is the carbon splitboard that set the benchmark for ultralight freeride, and the latest version pushes things even further. It’s built for long missions, big vert, and riders who want efficiency on the skintrack without giving up precision and speed on the descent.

On snow, it feels eerily close to a solid board—reactive, fast, and confident in high-speed arcs, yet nimble when you need to pivot in steep, technical terrain. The directional tapered shape floats with ease and carves with intent, though like any carbon ultralight it won’t bulldoze through heavy chop the way a heavier glass board will. Uphill, the weight savings are obvious, and Amplid’s Traction Camber gives surprising grip on firm skin tracks.

Construction leans into obsessive weight-shaving: a BBP (Balsa-Birch-Paulownia) core, full carbon laminates, HEXO2 honeycomb inserts to cut swing weight, Impact Pads underfoot for durability, and a Stratospheric topsheet that sheds snow and heat. Bolted tip clips are field-serviceable, and the Nano-Film layup adds snap without excess resin weight. Depending on length, weight runs from around 2.5 kg (151) to 3.5 kg (165).

The new generation brings noticeable updates: a reworked “Milli-Tail” sparrow-tail for more float and a looser, surfy feel; new inner “Gummy Walls” that improve cohesion between halves in ride mode; a revised BBP core with Bezièr-tuned sidecut; and a 3D “Crust Buster” nose that smooths tracking in variable snow. The result is a ride that feels cleaner, lighter, and more cohesive than the already-impressive previous version.

This board is for advanced to expert splitboarders chasing efficiency and speed in the backcountry. It rewards precision and thoughtful line choice, and it thrives on big alpine days. If you’re new to touring or want something to smash through rocks and crud, there are burlier options. But if your goal is covering ground fast and ripping big descents on a featherweight board, the Milligram remains the reference point.
