Rundle Riverside Canmore to Banff Trail Run

This run is best done when the river levels are back down and when most of the snow on the Rundle bowls has melted. Early season, there is considerable avalanche hazard on some sections, and the lowest point of the trail may be flooded.

A great Summer classic, running from the Canmore Nordic Centre to downtown Banff clocks in at just around 20 km.

Start at the Nordic Centre and run Banff Trail until you hit the end of the trail network and the junction with Rundle Riverside. From there, it's all singletracks until you hit the Fairmont Banff Springs golf course. Run a few more road kilometres back to town to catch the bus back to Canmore on Banff Avenue.

  • Distance:  20 km
  • Difficulty:  Moderate
  • Where to park: Canmore Nordic Centre
  • Surface: Non-technical until you hit the end of Banff Trail. Rundle Riverside is technical and very rooty in places. From the golf course to Banff Avenue is almost all on roads.
