Canmore Nordic Centre - EKG Loop

EKG is the Canmore Nordic Centre classic! Over 8 km, you get to run on some of the best single tracks that the nordic centre has to offer while not getting too far away from civilization. The area features tons of junctions and detours in case you want to start adding distance or if you're looking for some change. The EKG trail is the best way to familiarize yourself with the trail map and the different options. Other trails worth checking out include Long Road to Ruins, Blue Coal Chutes and Sherwood Forest.

Tip: Run that trail counter-clockwise (from Green Orchid up towards the meadow then down to FYI). This direction is the opposite of what most mountain bikers do. You can see the bike traffic better when they are coming in the opposite direction.

  • Distance: 8 km for the Classic EKG (in red). 1,3 km for the EKG East extension (in green)
  • There is an alternate entry/exit by taking the "Canmore Hill" instead of the Soft Yogurt/Devonian Drop combination. It is marked in blue on the map below.
  • Difficulty:  Intermediate
  • Where to park: Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park. Alternatively, you can park at the boat launch at the Rundle bridge downtown and run approximately 1 km to the legacy trail connector.
  • Surface: Technical (single tracks)
