Ortovox Avabag LiTRIC Zero 27 Airbag

At 1,970g it's the lightest airbag pack in the LiTRIC lineup, and one of the lightest electric airbag systems on the market at any volume. Ortovox achieved that by stripping the pack down to what a minimalist day tourer actually needs: a top-loading main compartment for safety gear and a day kit, ski and ice axe attachment, a removable helmet net, and the LiTRIC system integrated into the upper third. No unnecessary pockets, no heavy suspension, no bulk. The back system is pared back but still comfortable enough for a standard touring day.

The LiTRIC system itself uses supercapacitors instead of a gas cartridge or traditional battery, charging fully in roughly 25 minutes via USB-C and deploying the airbag reliably across a wide temperature range. Airplane legal. LED indicator shows charge status. One pull on the handle, one deployment. Packing the airbag back in after a deployment or test is straightforward without tools. The system is co-developed with Arc'teryx and shared across the LiTRIC platform.

The Zero is a fixed unit, the LiTRIC system isn't transferable to other packs the way it is on the LiTRIC Tour or LiTRIC Free. It's also a 27L pack with a top-loading design, so what you can fit is more constrained than a larger pack with multiple access points. For the tourer who runs light and wants to stop debating whether to bring the airbag, it's the right call.
