Siy̓ám̓ Smánit. First Peak. The one everyone knows, and the one that never gets easier.

There's a reason First Peak is the benchmark. The trail is direct, unambiguous, and merciless. It's a sustained grind from the base to the granite slabs that demands you be honest about where your fitness actually is. There are no tricks and no shortcuts that matter.

At the top, the Sound opens up below and the whole corridor lays itself out. You've earned it. You've also earned the knowledge of exactly what kind of shape you're in right now, which is the point. First Peak is a yearly calibration and a reminder of the standard. However you're moving today, the Chief has clocked it.

  • Distance: 1.5km
  • Difficulty: Challenging
  • Elevation Gain: 500 meters
  • Where to Park: Stawamus Chief Provincial Park Upper Lot
  • Surface: Expect slippery roots, rocks, Long wooden staircases, low angled rock slabs, chains, and one short steel ladder.
