Free Drop Off to the Bow Valley and Calgary

May 1st 2022 - Tour De Sunny Side
Well the weather is looking awfully unsettled for the next little but, so let's keep things close to town.
For those who are curious, here's the long-range forecast for Canmore.
Alright, so let's do a "Tour de Sunny Side" and let's explore some of the classic and some of the lesser known trails along Horseshoe and Montane Traverse.
What are the trails like?
Rolling hills, snow-free trails, perhaps a bit (or a lot) muddy depending on precipitations. We will be taking the paths less traveled all along the foothills of Mount lady McDonald and Grotto Mountain.
Semi technical trails with short but punchy climbs are interspersed with winding single track descents. These trails are anything but flat and boring with an elevation profile resembling a jagged set of teeth. One of the best trail systems to check out early spring.
Where/when are we meeting? 9 am at Cougar Creek parking lot.
The Groups:
- Social Pace; This will be a 2 hour run with an approximate distance of 15km led by RunUphill's own Gavin Harmacy! Loud laughter and good times are usually a staple with this group.
- Shorter Run; This will be about 75 to 90 minutes max and an approximate distance of 13-15 kms. This will be a bit of a quicker pace but the shortest duration of run.
- S.B.D (Social but Distance); This group will be out the longest for a 2.5 to 3 hour run with an approximate distance of 25km. This group will need some extra snacks and layers.
Don't forget to bring bear spray!
